Adam: The 7th edition of Al Bashayer Annual Camel Racing Festival concluded at Al Bashayer Racecourse in the Wilayat of Adam on Saturday under the patronage of His Highness Sayyid Asa'ad bin Tariq Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs and Personal Representative of His Majesty the Sultan.
The five-day festival was organised by Al Bashayer Racecourse Department for Arabian Pure-bred Camels. The festival saw the participation of camel owners and breeders from various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman and the GCC States.
The conclusion ceremony comprised four main rounds for eight kilometres wherein camel Samha for the Presidential Camel Corps of the UAE secured the Al Bashayer Gold Sword and the first place.
The first round of the race was dedicated to the category of 'Al Thanaya' (two-year-old camels) wherein the first place was secured by Durrah camel of the Presidential Camel corps of the UAE. The first place in the second round was secured by camel Al Tamas for owner Hilal Abdullah Al Shedi and the second place was secured by camel Dalal of owner Nasser Al Affari.
The third round was dedicated to the category of 'Al Hawl'. The first place and the silver sword prize was secured by camel Al Dhabi for Mohammed Sultan Al Katabi, while camel Samha for the Presidential Camel Corps bagged the first place in the fourth round (main round) of Al Hawl category to win the gold sword and the car.
At the conclusion of the event, His Highness Sayyid Asa'ad bin Tariq Al Said, gave away the prizes to the winners of the four rounds.
The conclusion of the festival was attended by a number of ministers, undersecretaries, sheikhs and dignitaries and lovers of camel racing from the various governorates. ----ONA
