Indian School Muscat celebrates annual graduation day

Muscat: Indian School Muscat (ISM) conducted Annual Graduation Ceremony to honour the outgoing batch of Grade XII students, on 3rd February, 2024 in the School’s Multipurpose Hall.

It was a moment of pride and privilege not only for the students, but also for the parents, teachers and well - wishers.  

Dr Maha Kobeil, Dean and CEO, Majan University, Sultanate of Oman, Honourable members of the Board of Directors of Indian Schools in Oman, Dr. Syed Ziaur Rahman, Vice President, School Management Committee, Sharafdeen Yoosaf, Convenor, Mohammed Imran Khan, Treasurer, Zulfikar Hussain Desai, Co convenor and Dr. Subramanian Muthuraman, Academic Chair, School Management Committee and other esteemed Members of Indian School Muscat Management Committee, Principal, Rakesh Joshi, Senior Vice Principal Administration, Vice Principals, Assistant Vice Principals, Heads of Departments and other dignitarieswitnessed the proceedings.

The ceremony commenced with a fine rendition of the national anthems of Oman and India led by the school choir. This was followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp which added a touch of divinity to the proceedings. The invocation dance seeking the blessings of the Almighty and gurus - a fitting tribute to all teachers - stood out as a perfect echo of the celebrations. The School Head Boy, Annirudh Menon accorded a cordial welcome to the distinguished gathering. The chief guest was presented with a floral bouquet by Student Council Literary Coordinators, Humairah Salman and Joshua Alex Pratheesh.

The Student Council Members, on behalf of the graduation batch students of 2023-24, marched in procession as they entered the hall. This symbolic march signified their deep sense of gratitude for all the opportunities and wisdom that the school had bestowed upon them.  All the new graduates took the pledge led by the Head boy. The Head boy and the Head girl unveiled a larger -than -life book which was followed by an exhilarating video as a token of gratitude from the student community to the school.
 
The Students had the privilege of receiving the mementoes from the chief guest and other dignitaries. An enthralling song titled ‘My wish for you’ wishing the students all the very best for their future rendered by the school choir held the audience spell bound.

As a gesture of love and appreciation the chief guest was presented with an artwork depicting ‘Power of Ambition and Freedom’ done by Liya Reji of 9 M.

The chief guest in her congratulatory speech commended the young aspirants and reminded them that challenges provide opportunities to grow. Hence, they should embrace the unknown with courage and let their passion guide them. She also added that students should take time to appreciate the wonders of technology as it is the force that connects, empowers and transforms lives.

She also told the graduates that they hold the key to a digital era. AI can be a beacon of progress only if it is used wisely and responsibly and they should be guardians of innovation ensuring that its benefits are inclusive and its impact is positive.

The chief guest presented the Student Council members with mementoes for their commitment, dedication and positivity.

The solemn ceremony came to a close with the head girl Chandrika Singh proposing the vote of thanks followed by the school anthem.  It was a day of celebration and achievement that the students will cherish for ages to come.
