Muscat: The number of newly-registered vehicles in the Sultanate has risen to 52,674 vehicles by the end of June, a 0.6 increase compared to the same period last year, according to the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The latest statistic of NCSI showed that the number of vehicles belonging to political authorities has jumped by a whopping 36.4 per cent at the same period.
Total vehicle number stood at 1,334,776 by the end of June with 35,428 private vehicles registered during the May-June period.
The number of newly-registered taxis stood at 81 by the end of June compared to 42 in May a decrease of 8.2 per cent.
Rental cars registration dropped 14.1 per cent at 1,914 by the end of June.
The statistic showed a gradual increase in the number of newly-registered vehicles from 10,815 in the month of June alone compared with 8,252 vehicles registered in May and 7,665 in April.
