Fish, Food Industries Zone in Duqm is promising area for investment

Duqm: The Fish and Food Industries Zone at the Special Economic Zone in Duqm (SEZAD) is considered a promising investment zone that is located near Duqm’s multipurpose fishing port.

The fish and food industries zone contributes to boosting the value of landed fish in the port. It includes several factories for fish packaging, producing fish oil and other similar activities.

The zone is designed to accommodate 60 establishments in the fish and food industries sector.

Zakaria Sulaiman Al Hasani, CEO of International Sea Food Company said that the Sultanate of Oman in general and the Governorate of Al Wusta in particular are known for the quality and quantity of fish. This encouraged the company to establish its factory in the Fish and Food Industries Zone at SEZAD.

Al Hasani told Oman News Agency (ONA) that the company invested RO 24 million to establish the factory which will produce 100 million package of tuna and sardines starting from the first quarter of 2024. The company has signed several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) to meet the needs of the local market and export outside Oman.
