Bank Muscat inaugurates new Green Sports field in the Wilayat of Bidiya

MUSCAT – Bank Muscat, the leading financial services provider in the Sultanate, continues to support youth sports teams through its annual Green Sports programme. Recently, the bank handed over the Green Sports field to the Al Etihad Sports and Cultural team from the Wilayat of Bidiya, Al Sharqiya North Governorate. The event was held in the presence of Colonel Ibrahim bin Amer Al Hajri, Younus bin Amer Al Hajri, Head of Al Etihad Sports & Cultural Team, Bader bin Mohammed Al Hajri, Assistant Regional Manager - North Al Sharqiya, Bank Muscat, and a number of officials and team members.

During the ceremony, Bader bin Mohammed Al Hajri, Assistant Regional Manager - North Al Sharqiya, Bank Muscat, said: “We are pleased to congratulate Al Etihad Sports and Cultural team from the Wilayat of Bidiya for the completion of the lighting system project. Bank Muscat is keen to continue implementing the Green Sports programme and has announced earlier this year the launch of the 13th edition of Green Sports. This programme aims to support local sports teams by enhancing sports fields infrastructure in order to empower the talents of Omani youth and use the premises to organize various social activities. I would like to take this opportunity to wish the team members all the best.”

Younus bin Amer Al Hajri, Head of Al Etihad Sports & Cultural Team, Bidiya, said: “I would like to thank Bank Muscat for continuing to implement the Green Sports programme to support local sports teams across the Sultanate. We are pleased to celebrate the inauguration of the lighting system project and we call on everyone in the community to make the best use of the new facility in the different sport, cultural and social activities.”

Bank Muscat’s Green Sports programme is one of the leading CSR programs in Oman, which provides support to local sports teams as part of the bank’s efforts to develop sports infrastructure and green spaces throughout the Sultanate of Oman. The support includes greening of football fields, water desalination and lighting. It is a matter of great encouragement that the Bank Muscat’s Green Sports programme has so far benefitted 183 teams with over 50,000 team members across the Sultanate of Oman.

Since its inception in 2012, the Green Sports programme reaffirms the bank’s commitment to providing ample opportunities for young Omanis to develop their talents. It goes a long way in developing the sporting skills and talents of Omani youth, thereby leading to all-round development of the sport.
