Oman Cancer Association signs pact to support treatment of cancer patients

Muscat: The Oman Cancer Association signed an agreement to support the treatment of cancer patients with the Oman National Engineering and Investment Company (ONEIC) and Oman International Hospital at the Intercity Hotel in Muscat Governorate.

The agreement aims to support the treatment of cancer patients by providing a platform to donate to this initiative to support and assist cancer patients and provide treatment at competitive prices. The Oman Cancer Association begins receiving and reviewing requests for treatment, and the initiative will be based on community donations through the Onik platform.

The occasion was sponsored by Her Highness Dr Mona bint Fahd Al Said, Assistant President of Sultan Qaboos University for International Cooperation, in the presence of Dr Waheed bin Ali Al Kharousi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Cancer Association, and the honourable Dr Rashid Al Ghailani, CEO of the Oman National Engineering and Investment Company (ONEC), and Director of Oman International Hospital.

Dr Waheed bin Ali Al Kharousi gave a speech in which he explained that the agreement to support the treatment of cancer patients comes to protect present and future generations from the health consequences of cancer, provide patients and their families with appropriate awareness and the importance of periodic examination, and provide means of support for cancer patients and their families. In addition to strengthening relations between civil society organisations and citizens and residents of the Sultanate of Oman who suffer from cancer. We hope this cooperation will extend for years to serve cancer patients and increase the number of companies supporting cancer patients and their families during the expensive treatment journey.

The Honourable Dr Rashid bin Mohammed Al Ghailani, CEO of ONEIC, pointed out that this agreement serves as a link between the people of the country who wish to provide their donations to help their brothers who suffer from this disease, to help those infected overcome the crisis through various ONEIC collection platforms, most notably the ONEIC application, in addition to the company’s offices spread throughout the Sultanate of Oman and the self-service machines located in commercial centres.

Al Ghailani said that the company has long experience in this field, as it works with many charitable institutions in the Sultanate of Oman, led by the Oman Charitable Organisation, to collect donations whenever circumstances require. We hope that the company will play its required role and contribute to awareness campaigns of various kinds to achieve the desired goals.

For his part, Marcelo Barrera, Director of Oman International Hospital, expressed the hospital’s desire to help cancer patients through a distinguished health service in an attempt to raise the level of awareness of the disease and cooperate through a specialised staff in providing a helping hand to this group and their families.

Yathir Al Rawahiya, founder of the Oman Cancer Association and a cancer survivor, stressed that she will work hard to develop and help a group of patient advocates in Oman and spread awareness about cancer so that people can accept the idea of ​​cancer and work towards early intervention and ultimately successful treatment.

The agreement was signed by Dr Wahid Al Kharousi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Cancer Society, and the honoured Dr Rashid Al Ghailani, CEO of the Oman National Engineering and Investment Company (ONEIC), and Director of Oman International Hospital.

The signing ceremony included a number of visual presentations showcasing the services provided by the Oman Cancer Association to cancer patients through periodic examination care, Dar Al Hanan and other services.

It is worth noting that the Oman Cancer Association has developed many projects and succeeded in implementing them through partnership activities between the public and private sectors.
