Muscat International Film Festival details unveiled, Shah Rukh Khan to be honoured

Muscat: The details of the Muscat International Film Festival in its eleventh session, which is scheduled to be held from 3 to 7 March, were announced at the headquarters of the Omani Film Society in Muscat, today.

The festival will include several competitions in different fields, including the competition for fiction films, the documentary films, the Omani short fiction films, the Omani documentary films among others. The festival will be accompanied by several events including seminars, workshops and the Festival’s Souq (Market) which is a corner for production companies.

The festival would honour a number of film directors and movie stars during the five days. The movie stars and film directors to be honoured included Indian actor and producer Shah Rukh Khan, Director Satara from Iran, Nelly Karim from Egypt, Hoda Hussein from Kuwait, from Oman Abdullah Habib, Mohammed Al Kindi, Buthainah Al Raisi, Taghlub Al Barwani and Khalil Al Sinani along with Director Yaqoob Al Maqlah from Bahrain and Director Mohammed Bakri from Palestine

The festival includes holding many accompanying events, including seminars and workshops aimed at introducing the procedures followed to obtain the necessary licenses to produce a film in the Sultanate in coordination with the competent authorities on this subject, and other courses related to work in the cinematic field.

The festival will include the “Festival Market”, which is a corner for institutions, production companies and artistic platforms with the aim of bringing together those interested in the cinematic industry under one roof through local and international cooperation in the government and private cinematic production sector and the exchange of experiences and promotional offers for cinematic production and artistic capabilities.
