New Duqm Airport inauguration today

Duqm: Commercial operations at the Duqm Airport passenger terminal are set to commence today, the Ministry of Transport and Communications has announced.
After successful 45-day operational tests, clearance has come from operating companies affiliated to Oman Aviation Group, including Oman Airports, Oman Air and Oman Aviation Services, in cooperation with a number of relevant government agencies.
With its state-of-the-art facilities, the airport is the third in the Sultanate to enter service with all of its facilities in operation, after Muscat International Airport and Salalah Airport. It is expected to add value to the national economy and support the country's economic diversification programmes.
The airport will play a prominent role in supporting projects at the Special Economic Zone of Duqm and in the Governorate of Al Wusta in general.
Oman Air Flight WY935 inbound from Muscat, which lands at 2:30 pm, will be the first operational flight to land at the Duqm Airport terminal building, the ministry stated. Oman Air flight number WY936 will depart at 5:00 pm.
The current passenger terminal received its last flight, an Oman Air flight from Muscat this morning.
Duqm Airport has been equipped with modern systems in the fields of communication, information technology, security surveillance systems and navigation and meteorological services systems, which enable it to deal with domestic and international flights. The airport’s capacity is estimated at half a million passengers per year, with the potential to expand to two million passengers a year.
