ROHM audience thrilled to watch Raymonda ballet

Muscat: The Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) hosted the Bolshoi Theatre of Moscow over the weekend for three performances of Raymonda, the ballet by Alezander Glazunov.

A romantic ballet, with period stage and a vast corps de ballet performing on stage, with full orchestra from the Bolshoi conducted by Pavel Sorokin, Raymonda was shown over two nights and one matinee performance to a full house.

Audiences to the ballet were thrilled by the production, captivated by the love story played out on stage with a choreography that reflected both East and West dance traditions.

This artistic partnership between Russia and Oman signifies an important moment of creative collaboration between the two nations.

Andrei Kostin, Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Bolshoi Theatre said, "Russian ballet is an integral part of word civilization and culture. The Bolshoi Theatre’s tour to Muscat reflects the growing level of our amicable relations with Oman and the Arab World. We are proud to perform at the Royal Opera House Muscat, which hosts the best artists from all over the world and has become an important intersection point for the cultural traditions of East and West."

The opera house has always demonstrated the power of music to transcend borders, providing a cultural bridge for global artistic talent. This month see the opera A Midsummer Night’s Dream performed on 9 and 10 February. Britten’s opera, based on Shakespeare’s most popular playis directed by Laurence Dale, conducted by Donato Renzetti and is a co-production between ROHM and Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova. The opera house continues to deliver a season of excellence.
