In a first for Oman, TRA issues license for ground station connected to satellite network

Muscat: The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority has issued a third-class license to Oman Lens Company to establish a ground station connected to a satellite network. This license is considered the first in the Sultanate of Oman.

The licensed company will work to establish a ground station connected to the satellite network for monitoring, tracking and controlling satellites belonging to (Star. Vision Aerospace Limited network).

The license will contribute to providing imaging services from space to collect and analyse satellite image data for use in some applications, such as mapping, environmental monitoring, resource management, agriculture, and disaster management.

 It is also worth noting that granting this license is consistent with the Authority’s strategic objectives in enhancing local added value, enabling investment in innovative technologies and services, and localising technologies.
