Sabco Sports, Oman School Sports Association sign agreement to promote sports activities

MUSCAT: Oman School Sports Association signed a partnership agreement with Sabco Sports for marketing and media activities on Sunday at the Ministry of Education.
The agreement to support and improve school sports activities was signed by Dr. Hamoud bin Khalfan Al Harthi, undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Curriculum, chairman of Oman Sports School Association, and Sayyid Khalid bin Hamed bin Hamoud Al Busaidi, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sabco Group.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Laila bint Ahmed Al Najjart, the vice-president of the Oman Sports School Association, and Ahmed bin Darwish, general secretary of the association and a number of the Union’s Secretaries in the education governorates.
Dr. Hamoud stressed the importance of cooperation and a partnership with Sabco Sports, one of the leading companies in the field of sports marketing. He explained that school sports programmes require support and are the foundation for building promising sporting talent.
He discussed the association currently supporting 750,000 students at all levels of education in the Sultanate and the work required to market an array of competitions, programmes and activities.
He added: “We are looking forward to covering all sports activities in the coming period to further activate them as the association enters its second year of work. We aspire to work hard and start expanding into the next phase covering all activities in schools and benefiting all students from preschool to higher education.
Sayyid Khalid said: “We are honoured to have the opportunity to cooperate with the Ministry of Education represented by the Oman School Sports Association to market its sporting activities in the presence of a large number of male and female students.”
He added that the partnership was a good foundation for building sports activities and an important base for talent building in a range of different sports. He thanked his colleagues from the Oman School Sports Association for their efforts to reach the agreement which will be a long term beneficial partnership.
Through the four-year agreement the Oman School Sports Association seeks to develop the existing system and find ways to finance the implementation of school sports plans and programs, improve sports activities and the selection of school sporting talent. In addition, the association aims to form school teams to take part in regional and international championships.
