Muscat: To showcase the tourism components of the South Al Sharqiyah Governorate and exploit its diversity, uniqueness, and attract investments, the governorate is organising ‘Tahayem winter season’ from January 25, 2024 to February 3, 2024 in the Wilayat of Jaalan Bani Bu Hassan.
The government and private agencies will also be participating in the programme.
Mohamed bin Ali Akaak, Wali Jaalan Bani Bu Hassan, Chairman of the Organising Committee, said: “The organisation of Tahayem winter season comes within the framework of enhancing tourism and commercial activity and activating the comparative advantages that characterise the South Al Sharqiyah Governorate. It is one of the important economic destinations of the Sultanate of Oman.”
He indicated that the aim of holding this event is to attract investments in the tourism and service sectors.
He said that the aim is to showcase the competitive advantages of the sandy areas in the South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, and create a distinctive entertainment and tourism outlet for local and regional tourists. It will support the governorate’s resources and create added value for the benefit of the local community.
He added that this season is the first experience of its kind in the South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, as it carries unique and distinct dimensions.
And the governorate embraces vast areas of sand dunes extending to the Arabian Sea, in addition to the advantage of environmental diversity and cultural and historic landmarks, he added.
The governor of Jaalan Bani BuHassan explained that the name “Tahayem winter season” takes its symbol fromone of the famous desert villages in the wilayat, located in the middle of theSharqiyah Sands and representing the meeting point for those crossing theSharqiyah Sands desert from all directions.
Pointing to the most prominentprogrammes and events of the season that suit all segments of society, he said the season will exhibit the finest types of dates and honey, and hold theatricaland artistic performances, poetry evenings, juggling shows, and children’scompetitions.
