Rolls Royce’s SUVs to arrive in Oman next year

Muscat: The Middle East’s fondness for the four-wheel drive means the Rolls Royce SUVs have already been fully booked with orders, even before the latest arrival comes to the Sultanate early next year.
The Rolls Royce Cullinan is the famed luxury automobile manufacturer’s first four-wheel drive, and is expected to come to Oman by March 2019.
“If you notice, all automobiles are now moving in the direction of four-wheel drives,” said Ameer Al Zadjali, sales manager for Al Jenaibi International Automobiles, the agent for Rolls Royce in Oman.
“Even if you go back 20 years, there were not a lot of SUVs, and none of the German manufacturers had them, but this is the way the industry is now going. It is now something that you have to do to go with the flow. The response has been amazing and has been more than what we expected. In terms of response, we are actually under extreme pressure.”
“In the Gulf, SUVs are very, very popular and we think it will a best-seller in the Gulf, even more so than the Ghost, which is one of our premium best-sellers,” he added.
“I would like to say that this concept has been a well-kept secret because we began thinking and working on this for the last 10 to 15 years. In terms of production, the idea began five years ago.”
Al Zadjali added that the Cullinan was a fully customisable vehicle, geared towards expressing the personality of the owner.
“People need to experience the features of this car because they are unique,” he said.
“For example, you can just close and open the door of the car with a single touch. When you are sitting inside, you touch a button and the door closes. The Rolls Royce is a hand-built vehicle, and you can design the colour of the interior, the colour of the exterior, everything. If, for example, you have a tree outside your home and want the wood of that tree in your car, we can do it. You can print the name on the headrest; you can have any customisation that comes to your mind.”
Luxury vehicle
“This is the first luxury SUV that you can take everywhere. I can confidently say that there is at present no other SUV that can beat the Cullinan when it comes to luxury, to the off-road, to the mountains, to the sand; you can take this car everywhere, and we mean that,” he added.
“I can say that we are sold out for the next one year, because we have a down payment for confirmed orders throughout the next one year. For the year 2019, we are already full so we may not have any additional cars to sell. You will be able to see the first Cullinan on the road by next March.”
“The cost of the Cullinan depends on whether you own a basic model or whether it is a fully loaded one, because it is fully customisable,” Al Zadjali explained.
“Every Cullinan you see on the road will be different from the other, because we are not bringing in a standard model. The average price of the Cullinan will be some OMR195,000 and we have a down payment of 20 per cent.”
