Tropical storm Gordon hit the U.S. mainland on Tuesday.
Gordon was threatening to become the first Category 1 hurricane to hit the U.S. coast this year.
Authorities said however that Gordon remained a tropical storm, packing maximum winds of 70 miles per hour.
The Miami-based National Hurricane Center said Gordon would weaken as it moved inland, downgrading to a tropical depression by Wednesday.
