Postpaid mobile phone subscriptions in Oman up by 11.7%

Muscat: Data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showed that post-paid mobile phone subscriptions in the Sultanate of Oman grew by 11.7 percent at 1,786,671 by the end of November 2023 compared to the corresponding period in 2022.

The number of paid mobile phone subscriptions also increased by 2 percent to 5,254,832.

These include 3,974,544 subscriptions from operators, and 1,280,288 subscriptions from resale, which constituted a 4.3 percent increase in the total number of mobile phone subscriptions at the end of November 2023.

The number of active mobile broadband subscriptions registered a rise of 4.5 percent at the end of November 2023, while subscriptions to fixed internet service grew by 6.2 percent to 564,467 at the end of November 2023.

Total subscriptions to fixed broadband service (more than 256 KB/s) stood at 562,742 by the end of November 2023, an increase of 6.2 percent, while the number of subscriptions to low-speed Internet (less than 256 KB/s) went down by 0.1 percent to 1,725.

Statistics show that the number of fixed-line telephone subscriptions rose by 4.8 per cent by the end of November 2023 to 582,348.

Analogue fixed-line telephone subscriptions went down by 4.6 percent by the end of November 2023 to 227,312.

The number of fixed-line telephone subscriptions connected via Internet Protocol Technology increased by 14.3 percent to 297,445.

By the end of November 2023, Muscat topped the list of governorates in terms of analogue fixed telephone lines (67.7 percent), followed by Dhofar Governorate (7.9 percent) North Al Batinah Governorate (7.5 percent) and other governorates (16.9 percent).
