Majlis Al Shura reviews Oman's achievements of 2017

Muscat: The Majlis Al Shura Office reviewed a letter of the Council of Ministers on the annual reports for 2017 of a number of service ministries.
The review came during the 19th meeting of the Majlis Al Shura Office held on Tuesday under the chair Khalid bin Hilal Al Ma’awali, Chairman of Majlis
Al Shura.
The review included a summary of what was accomplished during 2017, the stages of implementation of the projects of ministries, the major plans and strategies prepared by them and a number of statistics.
The Office decided to refer them to the relevant committees to study such reports.
The Office also reviewed the response of Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser Al Bakri, Minister of Manpower, to the request for a briefing on exhibitions of jobseekers’ employment.
The Office reviewed the response of Sheikh Mohammed bin Sa’ayed Al Kalbani, Minister of Social Development, to the request for a briefing on the role of the Ministry in educating about the importance of marriage.
The Office also reviewed the response of Mohamed bin Abdullah Al Mahrouqi, Chairman of the Public Authority for Electricity and Water, to the question about water delivery to areas south of Muscat - Sohar Road.
The Office also considered the question addressed to Mohamed bin Salim Al Toobi, Minister of Environment and Climate Affairs on combating the Myna bird.
The Office also considered the letter of the Health and Environment Committee on its themes during the third annual sitting.
The Office also considered a report of the Media and Culture Committee on the wish expressed by one of the members about developing programmes and cartoons on the promotion of the national identity among children.
As for the external affairs, the Office considered the invitation letter to participate in the 10th Consultative Assembly of Parliamentarians for the International Criminal Court and the Rule of Law and the 40th Annual Forum.
The Office also discussed the Arab Parliament’s message on the conference on the reality of higher education and scientific research in the Arab world (2019), in addition to reviewing the message of the National Housing Conference Fund on the Seventh World Parliamentary Conference on the Implementation of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) Programme.
The Office reviewed the report of the delegation participating in the emergency session of the heads of Arab parliaments held in the Egyptian capital on 21 July 2018 at the headquarters of the Egyptian Council of Representatives, including a summary of the proceedings and the decisions taken therein.
