Muscat: The ICC Cricket World Cup trophy arrived in Oman today for a two-day tour of the Sultanate, giving cricket fans in Oman the opportunity to see the trophy in person.
The tour is the first of its kind in the Middle East, with Oman being the first country in the region to host the World Cup trophy.
Apart from appearing at some of the capital’s most iconic places, the ICC trophy will visit the two most well-known supporters of the game in Oman, Sheikh Saad bin Mohammed Al Mardhouf Al Saadi, Minister of Sports Affairs, and His Highness Sayyid Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, Minister of Culture and Heritage and Patron-in-Chief of Oman Cricket.
Pankaj Khimji, senior Board member, Oman Cricket, spoke to Times of Oman's Shruthi Nair about the tour.
