His Majesty the Sultan accorded official reception on his visit to Singapore

Singapore: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik was accorded an official reception at the Istana Palace in Singapore today, on the occasion of his State Visit to the Republic of Singapore.

Upon the arrival of His Majesty the Sultan’s motorcade at the presidential palace, President Tharman Shanmugaratnam was at the forefront of those who received His Majesty the Sultan and his delegation, wewishing them a pleasant stay.

After that, the President of Singapore accompanied His Majesty the Sultan to the dais of honour, where the Omani Royal Anthem and the Singaporean Republican Anthem were played. Then, His Majesty the Sultan, accompanied by the Singaporean President, inspected the guard of honour, which saluted His Majesty.

The two leaders headed to the reception building, where His Majesty the Sultan signed the visitors’ book. After that, His Majesty the Sultan shook hands with senior members of the welcoming party, who were:

Masagos Zulkifli, Minister of Social and Family Development, Dr. Mohamed Malki Bin Othman, Minister at the Office of the Prime Minister (Head of the Mission of Honour), Edwin Tong, Minister of Culture, Community and Youth and Second Minister of the Ministry of Law, Dr. Suan J. P., Chairman of the Economic Development Board, Julius Lim, Private Secretary to the President, Grace Ho, Press Secretary to the President, Kevin Cheok, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Tan, Head of the Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Syed Nour Al-Din bin Sayed Hashim, Charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Singapore to the Sultanate of Oman.

Then, President Tharman Shanmugaratnam shook hands with members of the official delegation accompanying His Majesty the Sultan. Commemorative photos were taken for His Majesty the Sultan and the Singaporean President.

After that, His Majesty the Sultan held a bilateral meeting with President Tharman Shanmugaratnam of Singapore at the Istana Palace.

At the outset of the meeting, the Singaporean President reiterated his welcome to His Majesty the Sultan, who expressed his deep thanks and appreciation to the President for the warm reception and hospitality accorded to him.

During the meeting, His Majesty the Sultan and President Tharman Shanmugaratnam reviewed relations and aspects of cooperation in all fields. They expressed their keenness to enhance the common grounds in a manner that generates benefits to the peoples of the two countries.

The two leaders also exchanged views about the latest developments in the regional and international arenas. They engaged in consultation on matters of common concern.

The meeting was attended by official delegations from the Omani and Singaporean sides.
