Muscat: Oman Flour Mills Company (OFM) inaugurated on Wednesday the Animal Feed Production Plant in the Wilayat of Mutrah with a production capacity of 20 tonnes of animal feed per hour, in addition to a pre-mixing unit capable of producing six metric tonnes of pre-mix per hour.
The opening ceremony was held under the patronage of Dr. Saud Hamoud Al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources.
Haitham Mohammed Al Fannah, CEO of OFM pointed out that the plant is one of the company’s investments that are aimed at enhancing the food security system and contributing to the integration of production chains.
He added that the facility employs innovative technology, including robotic systems for packaging operations, to ensure efficiency, productivity, and a safe working environment.
Al Fannah highlighted the plant’s contribution to meeting the Sultanate of Oman’s needs for animal feed manufacturing inputs, leveraging technological advancements and proximity to wheat mills. The advanced pre-mixing unit enhances production processes, and the factory employs cutting-edge systems for production control and organisation.
The high level of automation enables precise control over ingredients, mixing, and production processes, ensuring the production of high-quality feed with strong competitive capabilities. The plant is equipped with automatic control systems for calibration and standardisation, allowing quick adjustments and effective decisions to maintain product quality.
This is expected to support livestock development, foster self-sufficiency in feed, and accelerate efforts to localise manufacturing to meet the increasing demand for animal feed products in local and regional markets, and hence drastically reducing dependence on imports.
