National Bioethics Committee looks into updates on cooperation among the parties

Muscat: The National Bioethics Committee (NBC) today held its third meeting of 2023 at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU).

The meeting was chaired by HH Sayyid Dr. Fahd Al Julanda Al Said, Vice Chancellor of Sultan Qaboos University, Chairman of the Committee.

The NBC finalised preparations for its 11th intellectual forum, titled “Bioethics Relevant to Family Affairs”. The panel intends to hold the forum in February 2024 at Sultan Qaboos University.

The NBC looked into updates on cooperation among the parties concerned to hold the International Conference on Bioethics in the State of Qatar. Members of the NBC will participate in the sessions and lectures of the conference, as well as the event’s technical committee.

The discussions also covered the committee’s role in securing membership for the Sultanate of Oman in the Intergovernmental Bioethics Committee (IGBC), in which Oman, represented by the SQU, was elected Vice-Chair. Deliberations to this effect took place at the general assembly of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), during the international organization’s 42nd session held in Paris.
