Oman’s ministry warns against unlicensed marketing on social media

Muscat: The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP) has issued a warning to practitioners of marketing and promotion on websites and social media. 

The Ministry notes that some practitioners of marketing and promotion on websites and social media practice the activity without obtaining a license from the Ministry, as well as violating some other items of the regulations, such as not indicating the license number in their electronic accounts, breaching public morals, and not adhering to the rules of ethical behavior and standards of honesty and honesty.

The Ministry recently summoned violators and took the necessary measures. Accordingly, the Ministry stresses the necessity of obtaining a license before practicing the activity and adhering to the requirements of the regulations regulating the practice of marketing and promotion activities on websites and social media, issued by Ministerial Resolution No. (619/2022), in order to avoid exposure to any legal accountability.
