Massive earthquake jolts Philippines

Muscat: An earthquake, measuring over 7.0 magnitude on the Richter scale, hit the island of Mindanao in the Philippines, and tsunami warnings have been issued for the Philippines and Japan, according to Oman News Centre.

The Earthquake Monitoring Centre said in a report, "The Monitoring Center recorded a large earthquake in the Philippine Sea and the Philippines with a magnitude of 7.7 on the Richter scale at 06:37 p.m. The center of this earthquake is about 7,416 km east of Muscat."
