Muscat: The Ministry of Labour has arrested 15 expatriates for violating the provisions of the Labour Law in Dhofar Governorate.
The Ministry of Labour said in a statement :"The Ministry of Labour, represented by the Office of the Joint Inspection Team at the General Directorate of Labour in Dhofar Governorate, in cooperation with the Royal Oman Police and the Ministry of Social Development, carried out an inspection campaign against street vendors and beggars practiced by the expat workforce in the governorate. A number of 15 workers from the workforce were arrested for violating the provisions of the law."
The Ministry added :"The legal measures are being taken against the violators."
Two arrested for smuggling drugs, entering Oman illegally
In another incident, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) has arrested two smugglers for smuggling more than 45 kilograms of hashish and 14 kilograms of crystal drug and for entering the Sultanate of Oman illegally.
"The Coast Guard Police in the South Al Batinah Governorate arrested two people of Asian nationality on charges of smuggling more than 45 kilograms of hashish and 14 kilograms of crystal drug and entering the country illegally. The legal procedures were completed against them, " ROP said in a statement.
