Muscat: The Embassy of India in Oman held the second lecture of the series ‘From Mandvi to Muscat: Indian Community and the shared history of India and Oman’.
Dr. Chhaya Goswami, an expert in the maritime history of the west coast of India and the western Indian Ocean, delivered the lecture on the topic “Mandvi, Muscat, and Mumbai: Trajectories of Settlement and Nodes of Entrepreneurship.”
The lecture highlighted the historical connections between Muscat, Mandvi and Mumbai and underscored the importance of trade networks.
Dr. Goswami’s focus on the maritime trade dynamics added depth to the understanding of the shared history between India and Oman.
The event saw participation from the Indian community, Omanis of Indian origin, scholars, and other guests.
Varun Pankaj Khimji from the Khimji Ramdas Family shared a narration of the Khimji Ramdas family’s history, highlighting their role as an example of the Indian community’s contribution to Oman.
