Oman, Qatar underline joint keenness to boost economic cooperation and partnership

Doha: Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister held a meeting in Doha today with Sheikh Mohammed Abdulrahman Al Thani, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the State of Qatar.

The two ministers expressed their satisfaction with the level of the relations and coordination between Oman and Qatar in various areas. This includes the exchange of views on different issues and challenges.

The two sides underscored the joint keenness to continue promoting various areas of economic cooperation and partnership in a manner that serves the mutual interests and opens wider horizons for investment.

During the meeting, Sayyid Badr expressed Oman’s confidence in the success of the upcoming GCC Summit, due to be hosted by Qatar next month.

As for the repercussions of with the brutal Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip, Sayyid Badr and Sheikh Mohammed discussed the efforts made regionally and internationally to contain the crisis and address its humanitarian, security and political impacts.

Sayyid Badr lauded Qatar's pivotal role in achieving the current humanitarian truce in Gaza in order to allow the exchange of prisoners and detainees and the entry of humanitarian and relief needs into the Strip.

Sayyid Badr also appreciated the efforts of the Arab Republic of Egypt, as well as the effective facilities and the existing coordination to make the humanitarian truce a success. He expressed the hope that this success will lead to an extension of the truce and a permanent ceasefire.

He also wished that this will come up with real convictions to resume efforts in a bid to achieve a just and comprehensive peace and address all the causes of the Arab-Israeli conflict.

The two sides reiterated their countries' support for the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian State with East Jerusalem as its capital, in implementation of the rules of international law and in accordance with the relevant resolutions of international legitimacy.

The meeting was attended by Sayyid Ammar Abdullah Al Busaidi, ambassador-designate of Oman to Qatar.
