Muscat: The Royal Academy of Management (RAM) is currently conducting the State-Owned Enterprises Chairpersons Programme, which is designed to diversify and strengthen the economy through working with a community of chairpersons of state-owned enterprises in the Sultanate of Oman.
The programme hosts thirty-five participants from the boards of state-owned enterprises. It is conducted in partnership with Oman Investment Authority, Board of Directors Institute (GCC-BDI) and other institutions.
Dr. Ali Qassim Al Lawati, President of the Royal Academy of Management stated, "The implementation of this programme aligns with His Majesty the Sultan’s vision to govern the state-owned enterprises, aiming to enhance their performance and boost efficiency by equipping leaders with the capabilities to contribute to the economic system and build a sustainable and resilient economy.
The Royal Academy of Management is driven by its vision to be a centre for developing national leaders and fostering creative thinking, administrative development and knowledge foresight. The programme will build a community of chairpersons from state-owned enterprises by equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge and will familiarize participants with the best practices in government-operated companies and empower them to contextualize these practices at a local level”.
He added that the programme significantly enhances national capabilities with a new vision that is able to adapt to rapid changes and contribute to the future development map of the Sultanate of Oman.

The programme addresses various pivotal topics that are integral to the development of the community of chairpersons of state-owned enterprises in the Sultanate of Oman, with the ultimate goal of diversifying the economy. Key focus areas include strategic planning, effective decision-making, future thinking tools, board of directors’ effectiveness, as well as governance and company culture.
The programme runs over three consecutive days and covers three key topics, each featuring enriching discussion sessions.
On the first day, participants explored building adaptive capacity and future thinking. The second day will focus on developing the skills of companies' board of directors in chairing and strategic planning. Finally, the third day will address companies' governance and institutional culture. There will also be a panel session on the future of companies' board of directors.
The programme features renowned international board of directors' chairpersons, who will share their experiences and expertise in the global economy and international partnerships. These esteemed guests will not only provide valuable insights but also propose creative solutions aimed at fostering a sustainable and resilient economy.
