Over 160,000 visitors at Al Jabal Al Akhdar in past 9 months

Muscat: More than 161,000 visitors have visited the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar during the period from January to the end of September 2023.

The number of visitors to the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate during the past nine months of the year 2023 reached more than 161,974 visitors, according to statistics issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information.

The statistics showed that the number of Omani citizens who visited during the period from the beginning of January to the end of September 2023 reached 88,840 visitors, and the number of Saudi tourists reached 11,824 visitors. The number of visitors of Kuwaiti nationality reached 992 visitors, and the number of Emirati visitors reached 757.  The number of Bahraini visitors reached 434, the number of Qatari visitors reached 594, and the number of tourists from other Arab nationalities reached 5,189. While the number of visitors of foreign nationalities reached 53,344 tourists.

Ali bin Said Al Adawi, Director of the Department of Heritage and Tourism in Al-Dakhiliyah Governorate, said that the Wilayat of Al-Jabal Al-Akhdar in Al-Dakhiliyah Governorate is unique in having an exceptional winter climate during the winter, as various tourist groups flock to it from inside and outside the Sultanate of Oman, making it one of the favourite tourist destinations that visitors visit throughout the year.

"There are valleys, heritage villages, and a number of caves on the outskirts of the Al-Jabal Al-Akhdar, which have always attracted adventure and exploration lovers. The Al-Jabal Al-Akhdar is also characterised by an abundance of rare and perennial wild plants, such as the Alalan tree, the Atam tree, and other various trees, " Al Adawi said.

Al Adawi pointed out that the number of visitors to the Wilayat of Al-Jabal Al-Akhdar from the beginning of January until October of this year reached 45,365 guests in various tourist facilities, according to statistics issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information.
