Oman health: Try aromatherapy for multiple cures

Aromatherapy involves the use of natural oils extracted from flowers, leaves, stems, and roots of plants, for enhancing and improving physical and mental wellbeing. While the aroma from such natural oils, when inhaled, is said to soothe as well as stimulate the brain, the oils also have a therapeutic effect when absorbed by the skin and transferred into the blood stream. The practice of using aromatic oils to induce wellbeing is thought to have roots in China but some also say that it originated in Greece. Hippocrates, the father of medicine, is believed to have treated people with aroma oils, using their therapeutic effects in many different ways. However, aromatherapy actually began gaining ground towards the mid-twentieth century when their efficacy was noticed when used to treat burn injuries.

Varied Use
The aromas of essential oils can be employed in different ways to induce wellbeing and healing. You may add them to your bath water, use them for a massage or even inhale their vapours when added to hot water or warmed up on a low candle flame. One may also add a few drops of essential oils to your favourite cream or lotion before application. Relief from pain can also be gained by applying a compress with a washcloth dipped in warm water with a few drops of aromatic oils.
