Ethiopian journalist reunites with wife and children after almost 20 years of separation

An Ethiopian journalist was reunited with his wife and children in Eritrea on Wednesday after almost two decades apart.

When Ethiopia and Eritrea went to war in 1998, they deported each other's nationals en masse.

Addisalem thought his Ethiopian passport would shield his Eritrean wife but she mysteriously disappeared along with their two daughters after two years.

They had gone to Eritrea, most likely swept up by the patriotism and nationalism that engulfed both countries as the bloodshed escalated.
