New 50 rial note introduced in Oman

Muscat: The Central Bank of Oman (CBO) has introduced a newly upgraded Fifty Rial Banknote with additional security features which will be circulated from June 2, 2019.

According to the CBO, the new banknote will be circulated side-by-side with the existing banknotes.

Some of the security features on the front of the upgraded banknote include a golden security patch window (Varifeye CC Patch) which shows the denomination, CBO’s main entrance and the name of the Central Bank of Oman in both Arabic and English. Furthermore, the colour of the window changes from gold to blue under any source of light.

The front of the note also has a Spark Live Truspin in the shape of a crown which changes colour from gold to green when tilting the banknote.

The back of the new updated banknote also contains a golden security patch window (Varifeye CC Patch) on the left side of the banknote, which changes colour from gold to blue as well when put under any source of light.
