Al Dakhiliyah Governorate offers an ideal investment destination for tourism, biodiversity and industries

Nizwa: Al Dakhiliyah Governorate capitalises on its tourism and heritage potentials, biodiversity, quality agricultural seasons and industrial cities to attract investments from within the Sultanate and abroad and to create attractive business opportunities.

Sheikh Hilal bin Said Al Hajri, Governor of Al Dakhiliyah said that there are several projects offered for investment including a project for construction and operation of an integrated commercial centre in the Wilayat of Bahla.

Another similar project is available at Hail Al Yamen in the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar besides the project of an integrated public transport bus and taxi station in Nizwa. Other projects are expected to kick off soon under the supervision of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning in partnership with the Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah and a number of related government entities.

He said that the upcoming stage would see the development of tourism sites in the various wilayats of the governorate in cooperation with the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism.

A number of tourism festivals is being organised during summers and winters including Al Dakhiliyah Festival and Al Jabal Al Akhdar Festival, he said. Tenders are also announced for the development of landscaping and parks along with  two sites for investment for construction and operation of integrated commercial centres, he added.

There are also old souqs in Nizwa, Bahla and Fanja besides old neighbourhoods and tourism guesthouses in the Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah, he said pointing to that Al Jabal Al Akhdar is one of the tourism destinations, thanks to its topography and favoured climate.

Al Suwjara Village at Al Jabal Al Akhdar is developed to be a tourism destination, mainly for lovers of adventure tourism along with other tourism sites including Jebel Shams, Misfat Al Abriyeen Village in the Wilayat of Al Hamra and Al Hoota Cave among other sites, he said adding that Oman Across Ages Museum in the Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah acquaints the visitors with the history of Oman, its renaissance and the qualitative shift between its past and present.

The number of projects in Nizwa Industrial City amounted to 166 projects with investment of OMR471 million and the number of projects in Samail Industrial City amounted to 156 projects with investment of OMR155 million.

He said that the Ministry of health has opened, this year, the project on expansion of Nizwa Referral Hospital at the cost of OMR30 million, increasing the hospital’s capacity to 555 beds besides addition of eight buildings of a total area of 45, 000 sq. metres and with 260 facilities.
