Muscat: The Oman Human Rights Commission confirmed it is monitoring an incident of assault on a resident by two people.
Previously, North Al Sharqiyah Governorate Police Command arrested two people on charges of assaulting and beating a resident of Asian nationality and completed legal procedures against them.
The OHRC said in a statement: “Oman Human Rights Commission monitored what was circulated on social media sites regarding the incident of assault on a resident by two people, and as the committee, in coordination with the competent authorities, continues to take legal measures against the perpetrators.”
OHRC confirms that the Sultanate has guaranteed, by its laws - most importantly the Basic Law of the State - that every citizen and resident has the right to a life of safety and dignity, away from any exposure, harm or assault, as Article 22 of the Basic Law of the State affirms that a safe life is a right for every human being. The State is committed to providing security and reassurance to its citizens and every resident on its lands. The Sultanate guaranteed the right to litigation and to resort to the competent authorities in confirmation of this.
