Muscat: The Positive Vision Association announced its foundation and the staging of its first strategic meeting, becoming the first NGO in Oman formed under the umbrella of the Ministry of Social Development to work on prevention and awareness on HIV/AIDS and drug use. The association also strives to connect with those most affected and provide support to their families.
Positive Vision comprises of members from different segments of society from the private and public sector including people who have worked in the field of HIV/AIDS and drug rehabilitation who are committed to making a positive change in the community. The members are passionate individuals, experts and advocates committed to promoting awareness, prevention and support to nurture a healthier and more resilient nation.
Nashia Nasib, President of the Positive Vision Association, said: “Our mission is rooted in compassion, and we are here to embrace those who are most affected. We have an exceptional team of dedicated board members who are ready to make a difference. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the Founding Members for being part of our journey.”
She added, “Our focus is clear: to provide assistance and support and combat stigma to People Living With HIV/AIDS and People Who Inject Drugs, and to extend our support to their families and the community at large physically, socially, and psychologically.”
The inaugural strategic meeting focused shaping the association's vision, mission, objectives and workplan for 2023-2024, discussing key strategies and ways to collaborate with stakeholders and partners from both the private an public sector. Positive Vision will work with individuals and families affected by HIV/AIDS and drugs to create a supportive and empathetic network, while reducing the associated stigma and discrimination.
