MAYL - Oman's first ever Youth Football League Kicks Off

Oman's first ever youth football league - the Muscat Academies Youth League 2023 begins in November 2023. Every Saturday, talented young footballers will compete in weekly games, and the winners will be declared at the end of the season, based on the games won. Academies competing this year include Muscat Football Academy, Viva Academy, Future Academy, Seeb Club, Bousher Academy, Junior Star Academy and Sporting De Kerala. Each academy will send teams across five different age categories.

Organised by Muscat Football Academy in cooperation with Muscat Media Group, the league will be played at the lush green grounds of Cheltenham Muscat. The league will begin in October 2023 and will continue till March 2024.

Coach Chuck MArtini, a former Morocco international footballer cited the need for consistent competitive football for youngsters, as the main reason to organize this league. “I have been associated with the development of grassroots football over the past decade and I realised that there were not many opportunities for the youngsters to compete against each other. Training is different and unless players experience the thrill of playing a match, a lot remains to be desired. We do have few tournaments but to have a full league and have weekend matches was something Oman lacked.”

Matches will be played every Saturday at Cheltenham Muscat, and audiences will be treated to a carnival atmosphere as parents, friends and fans cheer for their favorite teams. The event mascot is the G.O.A.T, paying homage to the natural ecology of Oman, as well as being a nod to great footballers who have inspired the new generation of aspirants.
