Muscat: Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, presided over the Omani Youth Day celebration at the Walk of Al Mouj Muscat and honoured the winners of the fourth edition of the Youth Excellence Award.
The accompanying exhibition which was open to the public till 30 October, saw the showcasing of Taqat (energy) which depicts the present youth who are inspired by the tales of their fathers and grandfathers.
The screens at the venue displayed pivotal characters in various artistic, cultural, sports, scientific research and economic spheres.
The event also saw the signing of seven agreements, notably the pact on construction of the Cultural and Youth Centre in the Wilayat of Sur in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, with the support of Oman LNG Company.
The agreements also included the construction of a public library within the Cultural and Youth Centre in the Wilayat of Sur in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate with the support of Bahwan Charitable Foundation and an agreement for the support of the youth programmes and activities within the Cultural and Youth Centre with the support of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The fourth agreement is for the support of the Youth Centre by Al Mouj Muscat.
The fifth agreement is for financing a project “Ready Programme” for development of the youth skills by CC Energy Development Company. The sixth agreement for financing a project for development of the youth skills by Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) and the seventh agreement is for financing a project for development of the youth skills “Ready Programme” by Outward Bound Oman.
During the event, Sayyid Theyazin honoured the winners of the award and the companies and establishments supporting the youth sector in 2023, which included SME Development Authority, OCCI, Oman LNG Company, PDO, Occidental Oman, Vodafone, Al Madina Real Estate, Oman Oil Marketing Company, IthikaGroup, Audi Oman , CC Energy Development and Al Mouj Muscat.
