Rare Arabian Scops Owl spotted in Oman

Muscat: The first recording of its kind, the Sultanate of Oman's Environment Authority(EA) cameras monitored the Arabian Scops Owl in Musandam Governorate.

"The Environment Authority monitors the Arabian Scops Owl in the Wilayat of Dibba, Musandam Governorate," the Authority said in a statement. 

According to Wikipedia, the Arabian scops owl (Otus pamelae) is a small owl endemic to Oman, Saudi Arabia and Yemen. The current population of the species is estimated to be about 60,000 individuals.
