Riyadh: The GCC Foreign Ministers on Sunday sent a message to the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Brazil to the United Nations (President of the Security Council).
In the message, the GCC ministers expressed their regret that the Security Council was unable to adopt a consensus resolution that would put an end to the repercussions and serious violations of the situations in Gaza Strip.
Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister and Chairman of the current session of the GCC Ministerial Council, and on behalf of the GCC Foreign Ministers, on Sunday sent an official letter to Sergio Franca Danese, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Brazil to the UN (President of the Security Council).
In the message, the GCC Ministerial Council expressed its regret that the Security Council was unable to adopt a consensus resolution that would put an end to the serious repercussions and violations of the situations in Gaza Strip.
The message reiterated that the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)states are fully prepared to work and maintain discussions with the Security Council, to adopt a resolution that puts an end to the crisis and its repercussions, in accordance with the international resolutions, treaties and laws, including the Security Council Resolutions (242) and (338), which confirms the international consensus on resolving this conflict, on the basis of the two-state solution, which enable Palestinians and Israelis live side by side in security and peace.
The message expressed the GCC Foreign Ministers’ readiness to meet with the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Brazil and members of the Security Council in New York to hold urgent discussions in this regard.
As a solution to the current conflict, the message stated the affirmation of the GCC Foreign Ministers on the unified Gulf position and stressing the necessity of all parties’ commitment, especially the Israeli party, to stop all illegal acts and fully complying with international and humanitarian law. It also underlined the necessity of immediately releasing hostages and detainees and categorically rejecting the use of violence and military force that target civilians.
The message also included the GCC countries’ announcement of providing relief aid to Gaza with an immediate amount of $100 million, in support of regional and international humanitarian efforts.
