International Medical conference organised in Muscat

Muscat: Amara Hospital, Tirupathi, India in Association with Lama Polyclinic, Muscat Family Physicians’ Group in association with Global Treatment Services organised an International Medical conference on Friday in Muscat.

Dr. Taimoor HOD Plastic Surgery & Dr. Ahmed Al Wahaibi HOD Hand Surgery, Khoula Hospital, were Guests of Honour.

Dr. Prasad Gourineni, Amara Hospital and a renowned Orthopedic surgeon spoke on “Advances in Arthroscopy, Arthroplasty & Osteotomy”.

He said that hip preservation is a new specialty that needs specialised training. There are multiple hip disorders diagnosable by careful examination.

Timely treatment can normalise hip function, prevent further damage, and preserve the native hip. If surgery is required, many problems can be managed with keyhole surgery (arthroscopy).

Modern hip surgery is safer and does not complicate future hip arthroplasty (replacement).

Dr. Vasudeva Reddy, consultant Hand and Foot Microsurgeon from Amara hospital, presented his work on “Challenging case in Hand surgery and Care of Diabetic Foot”.

He spoke elaborately on preserving the injured fingers inspire of bad injuries and throwing light on rare replantation surgeries.

He also spoke on Advances in diabetic foot care – which included Ulcer surgeries, Infected Ulcers & Pre gangrene stage.

Both Presentations were very practical - Case studies supported by pictures, X-Rays, MRIs, Short videos showing operative procedures. Both lectures were well received and the attendees, which was followed by brainstorming interactive session.

Both speakers answered all the queries raised by the attending doctors, rectifying their doubts.

In his concluding remarks Dr. Sanjay Dalal, Founder of Muscat Family Physicians’ Group & the organiser said “Healthcare is a continuously advancing field.
