Riyadh: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Foreign Ministry, participated in the extraordinary meeting of the executive committee meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation to discuss the ongoing Israeli military aggression against the Palestinian people, in Riyadh on Wednesday.
The Sultanate of Oman’s delegation to the meeting was headed by Sheikh Khalifa Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs.
The Sultanate of Oman emphasised in its speech that the brotherly Palestinian people are exposed to a new catastrophe and serious, painful events as a result of a brutal war by the Israeli occupation forces on the Gaza Strip, which is claiming the lives of civilians, especially women, children and the elderly, and destroying the infrastructure, services and hospitals.
The Al-Ahli Arab Hospital massacre is conclusive evidence, exceeding all international norms, laws, and international humanitarian law rules, amid racist and provocative statements and practices witnessed by the whole world by demolishing residents’ homes, violating the sanctity of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, and forcing civilians to displace.
All these atrocities against the people of Gaza are happening and many influential countries in the world are not only ignoring this, but are supporting Israel politically.
Oman pointed out that the current events are neither new nor surprising, and will not be the last.
They are a natural result of the failure of the international community to give the Palestinians their legitimate rights and their independent state.
In light of the current crisis, the Islamic and humanitarian position towards what is happening in the Gaza Strip requires all of us to put pressure on facilitating the passage of humanitarian convoys, by opening the crossings to deliver urgent aid of medical, food and other supplies, as well as immediately stopping Israeli attacks and adhering to international laws and norms in this regard.
