Muscat: Fish control and inspection teams confiscated more than 600 kilograms of kingfish and 60 kilograms charkha caught during the ban period.
The Directorate of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources in Al Wusta Governorate said: “During their work at sea in the Wilayat of Mahout, the fishing control teams were able to seize three artisanal fishing vessels containing 500 kilograms of kingfish that were caught during the ban period.
The Fishing Control Team team in Al Wusta Governorate also seized restaurants in the Wilayat of Mahout in possession of 130 kilograms of kingfish that were caught during the ban period.
The directorate added, the fish quantity was seized and legal measures were taken against the violators.
In another case, the fishing control team in Al Wusta Governorate was able to seize a vehicle on the coast of Wilayat Duqm containing 61 kilograms of charkha fish that were caught outside the fishing season. The seized quantity was seized and legal measures were taken against violators.
