Muscat: The Ministry of Education, represented by the Department of Training and Rehabilitation, in cooperation with the Omani School Sports Association, will conclude on Thursday the training programme “Sports Events and Tournament Management.”
The programme was launched early this week on Sunday with the participation of 26 teachers and supervisors in the field of physical education and management of sports activities from various educational directorates in the governorates of the Sultanate of Oman.
The closing ceremony and the distribution of participants’ certificates will be held on Thursday, under the patronage of Suleiman bin Hamoud Al Harrasi, Advisor to HE the Minister of Education for Studies and Research, and in the presence of Fahd bin Khalfan Al Mashaikhi, Secretary-General of the Omani School Sports Association.
Since its first day, the programme covered many topics and theoretical aspects, including comprehensive planning for tournaments, formation of work teams, mechanisms for financially managing matters related to tournaments, as well as sources of income available for sports tournaments, in addition to developing programmes accompanying tournaments and exploring their added value.
The training programme also addressed the legal aspects related to sports tournaments, focusing on sports marketing strategies, means of reaching target groups, attracting sports sponsors, and evaluation strategies for tournaments and sporting events.
The programme also focused on the practical side, as the participants were divided into work groups, where they applied what was covered in the theoretical side, including applying the latest methods and procedures in the process of planning events and sports tournaments.
The groups also developed a general plan for organizing a virtual tournament, presented their plans to the other participants.
