Doha: A number of officials and specialists in the field of horticulture stressed the significance of participation in the Horticultural Expo 2023 Doha under the theme “Green desert, better environment”. The expo showcases sustainability, environment awareness, technology and innovation and modern agriculture.
Dr. Saud bin Hamoud Al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, said that the Sultanate is participating along with a large number of countries in this event, being held for the first time in the Middle East.
The Sultanate’s participation represents an opportunity for showcasing its trees that grow in desert environment.
It is also an opportunity for exchange of expertise and knowledge among the countries taking part in the expo, he said, adding that the Expo 2023 Doha focuses on climate change and the contribution of horticulture in reduction of carbon dioxide emissions. He praised the efforts of the State of Qatar for hosting the Horticultural Expo 2023 Doha.
Dr. Khalid Abdulziz Al Farsi, Head of the Horticulture Department at the Oman Botanic Garden, said that the plants at the Sultanate’s pavilion in the Horticultural Expo 2023 Doha are all brought from the country. Oman Botanic Garden has participated in the Sultanate’s pavilion at Horticultural Expo 2023 Doha, represented by the Ministry of Heritage.
