Ministry of Transport launches 'Aber' awareness campaign in Oman

Muscat: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology launched on Sunday a marketing and awareness campaign for the 'Aber' program to regulate taxis, partnering with several government agencies.

The campaign aims to regulate taxi activity in the Sultanate of Oman in order to preserve the rights of the beneficiary and the vehicle driver, and to maximize the benefit for taxi owners by taking advantage of technologies, in addition to the regulations and decisions regulating the sector.

This campaign is organsed to improve the land transport system for vehicle taxi activity in the Sultanate of Oman, and this campaign includes three  phases. The first phase began on October 1, 2023, and targets taxis operating at airports. The second phase will begin on November 1, 2023, and targets taxis operating in hotels, commercial centers, and ports. The third phase will begin on January 1, 2024, and will target taxis operating in public places.

The Ministry had previously granted two licenses to manage the taxi service at Muscat International Airport for the Otaxi application and the Oman Taxi application, after they met the requirements and provisions of the regulations of the Land Transport Law.

The Ministry will launch the 'Aber' application, which is a single window that includes all licensed applications for taxis in the Sultanate of Oman, and is characterised by easy access and registration of the users in one place.
