On a Saturday morning 40 enthusiastic Omani professionals primarily from finance and accounts background seating in OCCI auditorium and listening to experienced and qualified mentors who are in various leadership roles tells a lot about something very progressive happening in Oman. The number of Omani male and female participants are almost equal, and it suggests how Omani females’ participation and contribution in Oman’s finance and accounts professional landscape is continuously rising. These participants are future aspiring CFOs and CXOs who are ready to give up their Saturday morning in exchange of professional growth and development. This is very promising for Oman’s professional environment.
The Omani CFO Program is a joint initiative of ICAI Muscat Chapter, Ministry of Commerce Industry and Investment Promotion (MOCIIP), Ministry of labour, Chamber of Commerce and Industry and General Federation of Oman Workers to bring together an educative, finance knowledge enhancing and interactive program for the aspiring Omani CFOs.
ICAI Muscat Chapter was formed in 2008 under the sponsorship of College of Banking and Financial Studies (CBFS). The Chapter conducts various professional programs in the form of seminars, panel discussions, IFRS & other certification courses in line with guidelines of ICAI and local sponsor - CBFS. Such quality education and professional enhancement programs involve eminent speakers on the most significant and contemporary topics, not only for its professional members but also for others in finance and non-finance field.
The objective of the Omani CFO Programme is to share knowledge and experience with real life practical examples with the participants and provide the required mentorship. The participants are encouraged to ask questions and think originally. The programme runs every Saturday for 3 hours and spread over 8 weeks. The programme is free of any fees.
Both participants and mentors were selected after a detailed review process so that most deserving participants get the right mentorship from the most suited mentors having rich experience and qualifications. Majority of the qualified mentors have long working experience in Oman and in the region and they are quite enthusiastic to share their knowledge and experience with the young aspiring CFOs.
Such professional enrichment programmes with more practical approach will certainly help in creating an already growing a vibrant professional environment in Oman.
