Muscat: Oman Women Cricket Team ended its 5-match UK tour with a resounding 122-run victory against women’s team of Thame Cricket Club at its home ground in Thame, a market town of the County of Oxfordshire.
Oman now leave UK with a 3-2 record having won its opening game against Wanstead CC. The Sultanate team lost three games against CCC, MCC and Hertfordshire.
Batting first, Oman piled up 182 for 3 in 20 overs thanks to 80 off 66 by Jayadhanya Gunasekar, 31 off 20 by Hina Javed and an unbeaten 28 off 23 by captain Vaishali Jesrani.
Oman then bowled brilliantly to restrict Thame CC to 60 for 8 in 20 overs. Shreya Sandesh Dhuri was the pick of the bowlers, claiming five wickets for only 3 runs in her 4 overs of which 2 were maiden. Amanda D’Costa, Yashika Verma and Saya Channa took one wicket each in their amazing 4-over spells, giving hardly anything away.
Earlier, Oman team visited the Lord’s Cricket Ground on Saturday to witness the final of the Royal London Championship Cup between Hamshire and Somerset.
The team had the opportunity to view the historical cricket memorabilia, learning many new things about the game’s history at cricket’s most famous ground.
