Muscat: 28 people have embraced Islam during the fourth Taaruf (introducing Islam) event organized by the Ministry of Endowments and Religious affairs, for which Dr. Ismail Menk, the Grand Mufti of Zimbabwe, was the guest speaker.

A statement by the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs read: “ccccc’.”

During his talk, Sheikh Menk said: “There are some things that we take for granted when we introduce Islam. There are two points that I will talk about that are connected to happiness: How can I be upset when I am a creature of the same Almighty who created you, and when we go back to the same Almighty?

“Point number one: Your happiness and is closely related to your relationship with he who made you. The closer the relationship with the one who made you, the happier and the more content you will be. When a problem comes, you don’t look at it as a problem, but an opportunity.

“The second thing, which is even more interesting: If you have developed your relationship with your maker, to complete that relationship you have to develop the relationship you have with the rest of the creatures of the same maker,” he added.

One expat Muslim told Times of Oman, "The event was very informative. About the two points of happiness the Mufti spoke about, it changed the way I look at kindness. A lot of people think of kindness as something they want to do to help others, and not a lot of people think of it as an act of worship.

"I also thought the MC for the event was supremely talented. After the prayer, they held a competition and it was really funny and informative, so everyone had a great time," he added.

According to the ministry, “The event also included a discussion with a number of new Muslims, who spoke about the reason why they embraced Islam, what changes they noticed in their lives, and what advice they would like to give to non-Muslims in order to guide them.”

The event was held under the patronage of H.E Ahmed al Mahrazi, the Ministery of Tourism, and with the presence of H.E Sheikh Ahmed al Siyabi, Secretary General of the Iftaa Office.
