MSM index ends lower marginally

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,774.54 points, down by 0.51 percent from previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 1.55 percent at 473.03 points. Taageer Finance, up 3.33 percent, was the top gainer while, A’Saffa Foods, down 10 percent, was the top loser. Shares of Bank Muscat were the most active in terms of number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.

A total number of 501 trades were executed during the day’s trading session, generating turnover of OMR2.07 million, with more than 9.93 million shares changing hands. Out of 43 traded securities, 5 advanced, 24 declined, and 14 remained unchanged. At the session close, domestic investors were net sellers for OMR225,000 while GCC and Arab investors were net buyers for OMR184,000, followed by foreign investors for OMR41,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 7,808.32 points, down 0.3 percent. Prices of Taageer Finance, Global Financial Investments, OMINVEST were up by 3.33 percent, 1.67 percent, 0.50 percent respectively. Prices of Al Anwar Investment, Al Madina Takaful, Oman United Insurance, United Finance, Al Sharqia Investment were up by 2.44 percent, 2.27 percent, 1.82 percent, 1.67 percent, 1.41 percent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 5,925.50 points, down 1.41 percent. Prices of  were up by  respectively. Prices of A’Saffa Foods, Voltamp Energy, Gulf Mushroom Products, Al Maha Ceramics, Galfar Engineering were up by 10.00 percent, 3.91 percent, 3.51 percent, 3.45 percent, 3.07 percent respectively.

Services Index was down by 0.72 percent before closing at 1,650.98 points. Prices of Muscat Desalination were up by 1.09 percent respectively. Prices of Al Jazeera Services, Renaissance Services, Oman Telecom, Ooredoo, Abraj Energy were up by 3.42 percent, 2.14 percent, 1.07 percent, 0.78 percent, 0.67 percent respectively.
