Reaching the top was not easy: Nadhira Al Harthy

Muscat: “Reaching the top did not come easy,” Omani mountain climber who scaled Mount Everest on May 23, 2019, Nadhira Al Harthy said.

Speaking of her successful endeavour, Al Harthy said: “As I stand on the world’s highest mountain peak, I feel jubilant and proud to have achieved my dream.”

“Reaching the top did not come easy. It required me being sharp in my focus on my goal, human in working with a team throughout the journey, and unstoppable in pushing boundaries and finding solutions for every obstacle,” she added.

Al Harthy’s Mt. Everest mission began in April 2019; however, her preparation began months in advance. She is a seasoned climber who has scaled various summits including Kilimanjaro and the Ama Dablam.

Expressing her joy on achieving her dream, Al Harthy said: "I’m ecstatic to have reached the top of Mt. Everest! Having encountered several challenges right from the onset, this win is extremely fulfilling. I would like to thank Sohar International for being one of the first organizations to believe in my capabilities and supporting me on my journey as part of their purpose to help people win and achieve their goals.”

After months of intense preparation and hard work, the Omani mountain climber and athlete, with Sohar International being her main sponsor, has fulfilled her mission to become the first Omani woman to scale Mount Everest - the world’s highest mountain at 8,848 meters above sea-level.

Sohar International was Al Harthy’s main sponsor. Commenting on the bank’s sponsorship and support provided to Al Harthy, Ahmed Al Musalmi, Chief Executive Office of Sohar International said: “We are proud of Nadhira Al Harthy’s remarkable feat that has truly made her an unstoppable winner, becoming the first Omani woman to summit Mt Everest. Nadhira’s win has gone a long way in demonstrating that women can achieve any goal that they are passionately determined to achieve and she has put the Sultanate on the world map.”

He further added: “We believe in women's participation in Oman’s development; helping Nadhira achieve her dream goes in line with our purpose of helping people win and achieve any goal, and further reflects our brand personality of being ‘Sharp’, ‘Human’ and ‘Unstoppable’. On behalf of the Bank, I would like to congratulate Nadhira for her achievement and relentless pursuit of excellence.”
