Meteorology predicts thunderstorms along with rainfall in several parts of Oman

Muscat: Thunderstorms along with rainfall ranging between 10-25 mm are expected over six governorates of the Sultanate of Oman from 1 pm till 9 pm on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, said Oman Meteorology.

 According to Oman Meteorology, the areas that may be affected are the mountainous areas of South Al Batinah, Al Dakhiliyah, Al Dhahira, Al Buraimi, North Al Batinah and North Al Sharqiyah Governorates.

 "The expected impacts are rainfalls ranging between 10-25 mm, downdraft winds of 20-35 knots, poor horizontal visibility due to dust storms during thundershowers and chances of overflowing valleys," Oman Meteorology added.

 Oman Meteorology has advised people to move away from low-lying areas, not to attempt to swim in valleys. It has also been recommended for people to supervise their children and make sure they stay away from approaching or crossing valleys in order to ensure safety.
