Muscat: Heavy rain fell in different parts of Oman on Tuesday, a weather enthusiast said quoting residents.
“Heavy rain fell in Salalah, Yanqul, Mahdah and Buraimi,” said Bader Ali Al Baddaei, an administrator at www.rthmc.net, a local web-based forum that discusses weather in Oman by quoting residents.
“Since afternoon, these places were covered with clouds,” he added.
The Oman Meteorological Department also predicted intermittent rains in some parts of the Sultanate on Wednesday.
Clouds in the Dhofar region and the Al Hajar Mountains will cause intermittent drizzle and result in fog formation, a recent weather forecast by the department stated.
It added that clear to partly cloudy skies are expected over the rest of the Sultanate, with chances of convective cloud development, with isolated rain and occasional thundershowers over the Al-Hajar Mountains and the adjacent wilayat during afternoon.
Also, there are chances of convective clouds developing tomorrow afternoon, with isolated rain and occasional thundershowers expected over the Al Hajar Mountains and adjacent wilayats.
Chances of dust rising over deserts and open areas and chances of late night to early morning low level clouds along most of the coastal area have also been predicted.
There is a chance of light showers in some parts of the Muscat region in the next couple of days, according to a senior meteorologist at Accuweather.com
On Monday, wadis in Nizwa, Buraimi and Ibri overflowed because of heavy rain. Ibri witnessed a heavy sandstorm, which caused some damage to an electric post in the area. The Niyabat of Samad Al Shan in the Wilayat of Al Buraimi experienced heavy to moderate rains accompanied by strong winds, which caused utility poles to collapse resulting in power outages in several places.
